Watch Denmark vs China Live

Denmark Women will play China PR Women at the Perth Rectangular Stadium in their opening game of the Women’s World Cup 2023.

China is participating in the World Cup for the third time in a row, while Denmark is making its first World Cup appearance since 2007.

Denmark will finally return to the international stage after a 16-year hiatus after a straightforward qualifying campaign.

They won all eight of their qualifying matches, scoring 40 goals while giving up just two, securing their place in the World Cup for the sixth time.

Denmark hopes to advance past the group stage for the first time since 1995 after failing to do so in both of their tournament appearances.

The European champions England and Haiti, who are competing in their first Women’s World Cup, are also in Denmark’s group together with China.

Lars Sondergaard’s team will be trying to rebound on Saturday after a run of four straight triumphs was ended by a 2-0 loss to Spain in their last warm-up game.

China, however, is getting ready to play in their seventh World Cup after qualifying with a strong showing in the 2022 Asian Cup.

China breezed through the group stage and beat Vietnam 3-1 in the quarterfinals to go to the World Cup semifinals and secure their spot.

China won against South Korea and Japan to win the Asian Cup for the ninth time in their history after securing qualification.

The 1999 runners-up will be trying to maintain their good record in Australia and New Zealand after doing so in each of their previous seven World Cup visits.

Following losing starts to their previous two World Cup campaigns, China will also be aiming to win their opening game for the first time since 2007.
