Watch Brentford vs Liverpool Live

Liverpool will aim to strengthen their position at the top of the Premier League, alongside Manchester City and Arsenal, when they face Brentford in the early kick-off on Saturday at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Before the start of Matchday 25, Liverpool will have held the top spot in the Premier League every night since Boxing Day, totaling 53 consecutive nights. This is equal to the number of nights they held the top position from the beginning of the 2020-21 season until Christmas 2023. Currently, they sit two points ahead of both Manchester City and Arsenal in the league standings, although Manchester City still has a game in hand going into the weekend’s matches.

Liverpool has amassed 54 points at this stage of the 2023-24 season, which is 15 points more than they had after 24 games last season (39). However, it’s worth noting that on three out of the last four occasions where they had accumulated 54+ points after 24 games, they finished as runners-up in the league (in 1990-91, 2018-19, and 2021-22). The exception was in the 2019-20 season when they had 70 points and won the league – a success that manager Jürgen Klopp will be eager to replicate in his final season at Anfield.
